This will be our second ride to Truckee from Petaluma. Last year we had great weather, beautiful scenery and an outstanding group of riders. We expect a much larger group this year.

The ride leaves Friday morning and heads over Sonoma Mountain Rd. to Trinity Rd. and into Oakville. From Oakville we go over Hwy 128 past Lake Hennessey to Lake Berryessa, where we take a break and have lunch. The last segment is basically flat into Davis. The first day is probably the most strenuous section of the ride, climbing 6,000 ft. and traveling nearly 100 miles to Davis.

We spend the night in Davis in a motel. On Saturday we depart at 8am and ride mostly on bike paths through Sacramento to Folsom Lake. From there we head up Auburn/Folsom Rd. to Auburn to spend another night in a motel.

Sunday morning we depart at 8am and take frontage roads along I-80 to Dutch Flat. Here we shuttle in cars to Cisco Grove, where we continue are ride over Donner Summit to Truckee.

For those staying over Sunday night in Truckee, we will have a potluck dinner at Michael and Judy's home in Tahoe Donner.

This ride requires that you are in good physical condition and can ride 100 miles and 6,000 vertical feet in one day. You should be riding 50-75 mile trips during the summer.

We will divide into several groups based on riding ability and we will have at least one sag wagon on all three days.

We will be seeking volunteers who can drive and/or sag for the trip. Since this is a one-way trip, we need enough cars with a driver to bring the riders and bikes home. Perhaps you have a spouse or friend who would like to take the trip to Truckee and be a shuttle driver. They will be able to stay at Michael and Judy's house in Tahoe Donner on Saturday night.
